CGI Achieves Level 2 Sustainable IT Certification Milestone

CGI, a major digital services company, has made history by achieving the Sustainable IT label – Level 2 certification across its operations in Europe and Morocco. This accolade marks a significant milestone for CGI, being the first digital services firm with over 5,000 employees to reach this level of sustainability certification.

The certification, awarded by the Institut du Numérique Responsable in collaboration with the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and other entities, underscores CGI’s dedication to sustainable digital practices. CGI underwent a rigorous assessment against 52 criteria across key areas such as strategy, governance, lifecycle of services, and external influences on digital service companies.

Noteworthy accomplishments that contributed to CGI’s Level 2 certification include training 9,000 employees in eco-design and partnering with prominent clients like EDF to develop environmentally-friendly solutions. The certification process involved a comprehensive audit by Baker Tilly, leading CGI to establish a strategic three-year plan focusing on responsible design implementation.

Caroline de Grandmaison, President of CGI France and Luxembourg, emphasized the company’s commitment to responsible digital technology through tangible initiatives like employee training and collaborations with key clients. CGI’s proactive action plan aims to merge technological innovation with environmental responsibility over the next three years.

The Level 2 certification embodies CGI’s continuous improvement approach to digital responsibility, building on its Level 1 label received in 2022. The Sustainable IT label, developed by the Institut du Numérique Responsable in conjunction with various organizations, recognizes companies that adopt ethical and ecologically responsible practices to reduce their environmental impact and create societal benefits.

Following a rigorous audit process conducted by Baker Tilly on behalf of the LUCIE agency, CGI was evaluated across five main areas: strategy and governance, supporting responsible digital strategy, lifecycle of digital services, extending responsible digital approach, and external levers of digital service companies.

CGI’s three-year progress plan focuses on implementing responsible design in customer services and adhering to responsible artificial intelligence standards. The company, with 91,000 consultants globally, provides end-to-end IT and business consulting services, aiming to digitally transform organizations and drive results through a local-global relationship model.

As CGI continues to innovate and lead in sustainable IT practices, its commitment to responsible digital technology sets a benchmark for the industry. The company’s Level 2 certification underscores its dedication to environmental stewardship and societal impact, paving the way for a more sustainable digital future.
